Herne Bay Sports Hub

Location: HERNE BAY, KENT

Space: 572 HOUSES, COMMERCIAL SPACE AND A SPORTING SUPER HUB

Quinn Estates and Newmaquinn have resubmitted an application for a mixed use development at the former Herne Bay Golf Club. We need your support to make this happen and these are the reasons why...

  • The sporting super hub we are developing will provide some of the best sporting facilities in the south of England including two artificially surfaced football pitches (one shared with hockey), dual use cricket pitch including two mini football pitches, one artificially surfaced hockey pitch and six artificially surfaced tennis courts.
  • The new homes will add £20m into the local economy and the new business space will add £10m a year into the Herne Bay economy. The construction phase will contribute £3.7m a year into the local economy.
  • Create up to 1,000 new long term and construction jobs
  • The development will secure contributions towards local projects such as roads and schools
  • Contribute 572 new homes helping the Council to meet its housing target and delivering 171 new affordable homes.
  • Building a high quality residential development that will contribute to the character and quality of the local area;
  • The proposed scheme links in with the existing pedestrian and cycle networks
  • The scheme will create an enhanced ecological environment avoiding the pesticides used to maintain the existing golf course.
  • New community and commercial facilities for Herne Bay including a 60 bedroom residential care home, doctors surgery, new restaurants, retail and office space, and a new public house all benefiting Herne Bay.
  • Significant social gains building a community around sport that will promote healthy lifestyles amongst local children with positive knock on effects for our community.
  • Makes use of a previously used site that is currently redundant and that has a number of planning permissions already on it
  • A development that accords with the pillars of the National Planning Policy Framework in creating economic, social and environmental benefits
